How Obesity Effects Us Sociologically

Obesity rates are going up so high around the world that it is scary. People have started to get more aware too. Especially in America everyone has started paying attention to the problem. The positive part is that although genetics may play a role in making someone overweight, diet and physical exertion or the lack of it are the main two factors that could control your weight almost entirely. This means that you can utilize these two factors for having an upper hand over your body weight.

What are the disadvantages of obesity? Why is everyone so worried about their weight now? These are the most common questions that cross a person’s mind if they are less aware about it. There is a very long list of negative impacts of being overweight. In physical sense itself, there are dozens of unhealthy conditions and diseases that you become more vulnerable to if your weight is not under control. As if that wasn’t enough, there are so many psychological and social impacts of being overweight. You would think that everything has its cons as well as pros. Well, quite frankly, through all the research and reading I haven’t found a single article, paragraph, point or even a word that you give me a positive effect of obesity.

Knowledge about the physiological and psychological effects of obesity is relatively common. What many people do not take a minute to think about are the sociological effects of being over your ideal weight. I bet that every one of you has observed them before though. Today let me write them down for you in words so you can acknowledge them when it is happening around you or to you.

Social Isolation - This is a two way situation. There are times and certain people who would avoid communicating with people who are overweight, whether consciously or unconsciously. Then there is the time when an overweight person them self isolates himself from the crowd. They would stay by themselves for long stretches of time; avoid any kind of contact with the people around them, even if the other person is trying to communicate. This isolation can lead to loneliness, stress, depression, anxiety, aggression and fear. The longer a person takes to learn to fit into a society, the more difficult it gets.

Victimization – Everyone goes through bullies and victimizers through their life I guess, but for obese people, it’s just that much worse. They are more often picked at and somehow these less sensitive people end up targeting the overweight people in so many different ways. For them it’s just fun and they will probably forget about it in the next second. Maybe they didn’t mean it or even were just trying to be friendly in their own way, but they don’t understand how severely it could impact their target.

These are just two of the major sociological consequences of obesity, but there are many more. Whether you are of normal weight, overweight or obese can be inferred from a simple Body Mass Index calculator. BMI charts and calculators are all over the internet to help you. Otherwise you can simply consult your doctor and find out what should be your target body weight, according to your age, gender and height.

For your physical as well as mental well-being, you should try to lose the excess weight. You can try organic herbs like pure health Garcinia Cambogia to catalyze the process too. From Quality Nature, you can buy pure garcinia cambogia online.
