Things-To-Do Before You Choose a Weight Loss Program

A study done across America showed that women spend a lot more than men on weight loss equipments, products and services. As we all didn’t know that already. Women have a nag for losing weight and staying healthy much more than men. This is because not only do women want to look better always, but because we understand that weight loss is not just about looking better, it is also for a better health.

Being overweight or obese can cause endless amounts of health issues in a person’s body. Some of these issues might even be life threatening, like heart strokes, heart attacks, high blood pressure and diabetes. Then there are all the constant problems like joint pains. Although my views can barely count as a study, I do believe that a lot of the men that do try to lose weight are also doing so after their women’s constant persuasion.

All you ivory intelligent health conscious people read on for something you must keep in mind before you adapt a weight loss program; It may be a diet, an outdoor running regime or indoor workout sessions. Here are a few things to think about.

1.       Know yourself, know your body. Before you even start thinking about weight loss, you need to know where exactly your body weight stands on the Body Mass Index (BMI). Body Mass Index is a scale that tells you what your optimum weight should be, depending upon your height. This fact is important to know because you don’t want to begin a regime that has an effect on your body for the worse.

2.       Once you know your BMI, you need to decide what you have to do. I mean, if you are underweight, you need to put on weight, but in a healthy way, not by eating fatty foods and doing no physical activity. This will do more harm to your body than good. If you are of the right weight, then you have to maintain it and in case you are overweight or obese, depending on how much difference is there, you need to adapt to a weight loss program.

3.       Set a target weight. Decide on how much weight you have to lose to reach healthy weight level. I know how much we all want to look thin, but losing too much weight is not a healthy condition for your health. You target needs to be average, not too high or too low.

4.       Set a target time. Depending upon the how much weight you need to lose, you want to lose, you will be required to set a time limit. It has to be corresponding to the desired weight target. Research shows that a healthy rate of weight loss is ½ to 2 pounds a week. Also, shredding too much weight too fast can be extremely unhealthy too.

5.       Depending on the above statistics, design a weight loss regime. Even if you are not going to be the one to structure the program, knowing all the facts will help you understand what your coach might be thinking and setting as your workout/diet program.

6.       Usually, the reason you are trying to lose weight is the best motivation that can be found. If you don’t have any particular reason, then find a friend to accompany you or coach you. Anything you can think of that will keep pushing you until you can reach your target weight.
